Our much awaited "rest day" arrived - and as it is in the town of "WILLIAMS" - I wish to give special thanks to PATWILLIAMS for her help on all of my rides. She spent this day catching up with all the laundry, washing all my bike gear and getting everything up to date as we prepare to start week 2 of our journey across USA tomorrow. From myself, and those who have ridden on these rides a huge thanks!! As Don Bright said yesterday - Pat just seems to turn up when we need her. THANK-YOU!!
Today Don and Annie headed out to see the Grand Canyon - and they were certainly gob-smacked by its size and beauty. Fortunately I went to the Canyon on a previous trip to the USA, and while my original plan was to do the train trip this time, being mindful of how my health has been over the last few days - I thought it better to play safe and lie low!
After Pat had attended to all the chores and I had done a clean out of the van and a quick clean of my bike we wandered up town for a leisurely coffee and lunch. It's a busy town on a Sunday - there seemed to be many groups of motor-cyclists coming through - I am not sure from how far afield. It seemed to me to be a pretty good way to travel!! The weather however, wasn't particularly warm, especially when in the wind as it is very "bitey". Thank goodness we did bring winter jackets tho!! If you can find a spot out of the wind and in the sun - it is not too bad.
The campground did have a small house that was a "social room" - so I caught up with some write-ups and correspondence that needed to be attended to at the comfort of a table. Non-stop coffee was available - and they also served donuts for morning tea on the weekend - yum!!
